1998 model 130 2 stroke. At idle the motor runs like a dream and up to about 1500 to 2000+/- rpms. but then alarm sounds and it shuts down. If you bring the motor back to a fast idle then the alarm shuts off. The oil pumps are working. I have checked all the wiring and it seems to be ok. the puzzling thing is it only goes off when it is given throttle and at about the time the boat is about to break over the alarms sounds.

Re: Yamaha 130 alarm

Two things will give alarm, low oil in engine tank and overheating. Oil alarm would not quit when you slowed down so you are overheating.

Which might be the case but with a new impeller and the heads checked with a thermometer. The motor has good water presure. Thats why i am not leaning towards overheating.

Unplug each of the brown wires coming from the temp sensors when the alarm sounds and see if it quits. There is several more parts in the cooling system that can cause the problem.
