I have a 2003 Yamaha 115 with a Water Pressure Gauge Problem, had a few replies but haven't found a solution.

1st Test: Check behind the gauge to see if water was getting to the gauge -- No Water
2nd Test: Check at the motor to see if water tube was pinched/leaking -- Niether
3rd Test: Remove fitting and make sure it's clear -- Removed & it's clear
4th Test: Run Motor with plug out -- Still no water coming from the engine block

Motor runs cool & doesn't over heat, the pee tail is strong & the impeller was replaced last year. Gauge was working fine & just stopped.

I see other post with the same problem with no replies, I assume somebody has figured this out already. If so, please share with the group.

This has been a great site for troubleshooting, thanks for any advice or help you may have.

Thanks for the suggestion, where/what is a poppet valve?

Thanks,

I'll take a look, what other function does this valve perform?

Dumps excess water with increased engine speed, which results in a regulated coolant pressure. This pertains to Yamaha.

Other manufacturers use this valve to increasing coolant flow at high speed.

If this valve is stuck wide open on your engine,(combined with a worn water pump) it could result in very low water pressure....
