Hi,
I have a 2004 Yamaha F75 TLRC outboard that has an extremely noisy fuel pump. I had a similar problem two years ago and it ended up being a bad fuel fitting changed it and all was quite. So this year I went thru entire fuel system checked all fittings, filters, fuel lines and replaced the tank fitting and fuel line fitting when I found the O-ring was bad on the fuel line fitting that goes to the tank. Ball pumps up good and firm and never loses pressure and engine runs great from idle to wide open throttle.
With all of that being done the pump is still very loud sounds like a loose rocker arm tapping it is so loud you can hear it with the cowl/hood on the motor. I used my long screwdriver and put my ear on the handle and listened across the valve train and all sounds normal until I get to the fuel pump the noise is definitely coming from the fuel pump. Do I need to replace the pump or just rebuild it?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Tim
