i've got a 06 yami 150hp 4stroke 25" shaft outboard. motor on a 2006 g3 v185. when i bought boat it had a rebuilt lower unit, which the clutch dogs went out at less then 30 hours use, they redid it and it lasted about 10 hours this time! it will go ok till about planes out then pops out of gear! or will plane out then will slip in and out of gear while moving!! any ideas why this keeps going out?
2nd question> the mechanic shop that i got the lower unit from is going to fix it again, but i am buying a new one, i don't trust this unit any longer! should i buy the new yami? or new aftermarket? i've been told that new yami have a 1yr warranty where as some aftermarket places have a 3 year? any info on this would be great! i'm a auto mechanic and own my own shop, but have very little knowledge on boat motors!!
