04 yamaha four stroke 150 hp problem

boat quit on water last week, now when i hit the key it turns slow like a weak battery and backfires and the low oil alarm goes off but it is full of oil.. is it out of time? or in safe mode or has oil pump gone out ?? any ideas

Back to basics. First check the battery and battery cables with a load test. Get a manual and look at the belt on the engine, are all of the marks lined up for TDC as in the manual? Check your compression or better yet leakdown. Check the fuel for contaminants. Do all of these checks before looking into the alarm, it may be related to other problems. Besides there is no Low oil alarm, it is a no oil alarm. Do the basic checks first.
