I have a 2002 Yamaha 225 OX66. It starts up, idles smooth, revs up in neutral but when I put it in drive (forward) it bogs out and will not run over 2300 RPM. When in reverse, it will rev and does not bog out. I'm confused at why it only does this in drive forward only.
On my way up the lake this evening, it was holding back but would still run around 4500 RPM. I fished a couple hours and when I started to leave, it wouldn't go over 2300 RPM. Took me 2 hours to idle back to the dock!
I ran a can of Seafoam through it but it did not help. Any suggestions on what is going on and explanation why it only does this in Drive????
