My 40 ELRT was running a little rough and would not idle. I rebuilt the carbs and got it to crank and run nicely but when it comes off of fast idle, the motor "studders" randomly and "chirps" loudly. The noise comes from just above the intermediate housing and a little puff of smoke comes out. It does it while at idle and not in gear. I fear it might be a bearing in the lower part of the power head but want to be a little more certain before I yank the powerhead off. Any ideas?
