I have a 1989 Yamaha 30 hp and currently have the lower unit off for seal replacement.when I took it apart, I noticed a 1/4" black plastic hose attached to a hose barb that screws into the very front of the lower unit. It is capped off and doesn't go anywhere, nor does it appear to do anything. It is however shown in the parts diagram, so apparently it is there for a reason. My question is, does anyone know why it is there and what it is for. I suspect it is to be used with a speedometer, but really don't know. Can anyone help?
