Hello,

The timing belt on my sons F80 4 stroke seems to me much looser than the manuals specs. I am going to order a new belt and replace it.

Are there any tips or tricks to make this go smooth? Any videos?

Does anything else need to be inspected or replaced while doing this? Tension adjuster or roller?

I am fully aware to keep the engines gears in the correct placement.

Thank you

Google up: Yamaha Outboard Timing Belt Replacements for several sites discussing procedure. The big thing is to Not move anything/sprockets while belt is off to prevent pistons/valves from trying to occupy the same space(interference motor) when it's started. I've never done a belt but maybe a good idea to mark sprockets, etc. with a felt tip marker and take a quick photo before taking apart. Good Luck!
