Can someone help me out with my 9.9 Yamaha MLHV year 1997

I took this motor in trade and the guy said it has carb problems. I can tell he took the carb off and tried to work on it because he used regular clear silicone to seal it to the manifold when he put it back together. to my question, is there supposed to be a gasket in between the carb and the manifold on this motor and if not what should I use to seal it because I know clear silicone is not the right thing. I have looked at carb kits and schematics and none of them have shown a gasket there. Thanks for the help

Thanks for the info guys I would have checked on it at my local boat shop but they have been closed for the last couple weeks over the holiday. You guys seem to always know the answer thanks again.
