I have an F50 that idles fine but as soon as I increase rpms it dies. I'm on small island with no good outboard mechanic. Any suggestions? Appreciate any help.

Check compression, spark, and timing to make sure motor is still in good shape.

Most likely you have a carb /fuel problem and need to pull and clean.

A Yamaha service manual will go a long way helping you do your own maintenance, but you will need some tools and equipment the normal guy does not keep around the house

Check inline/water separating filters/kinked lines/vent line or vent valve if a remote tank. also if you just recently replaced the water separating fuel filter be sure you are using the correct one. got bit once by installing a 1o micron filter not the 6-8 that was original, resulted in same issue.
