I need a top cowling for a 2006 50 hp yamaha

Does the cowling have to be from the same year? The cowling flew off during transporting the boat. The Outboard is a 2006, 50 hp 2 stroke Yamaha, does anyone know about what other models (year) will fit my outboard. Thanks for your help.

It appears that the requester may have thought of looking for the cowling. It may have been a lengthy transport as well as there is a good chance the cowling is damaged. EDIT: quite rude.

Wow, good luck, check Ebay, etc... found one on this site for over $500.. Yikes

Nevermind, that's just for the cowl, none of the other stuff, way more than $500 total then.

Quite to the contrary, maybe it never occurred to the guy to just backtrack his route and look for it, and since the cowlings are fairly light but strong plastic/fiberglass, it may be in the ditch or median, undamaged. It was just an idea.

I did go back that same night and the next morning all the way to the state park and inquired at the ranger station.

Well, I know the new cowls are awfully expensive, but maybe check around some local boat dealers and maybe they have one off an old motor? Don't you hate stuff like this...just a lot of time, money and aggravation! Good Luck finding one!

Did you look at the parts web site like I said? It shows which years and models fit

Needs a can of Yamaha spray paint but it will get you back on the water, according to the link provided by 99yam40 this could work.

I believe that one is from a 1993 model not 2002 and above like the link shows

Yeah it is aggravating, I posted fliers around the area and have been checking flea markets, and boat shops. Well... If I can't find one I can afford I guess I am going to have to make a homemade one. Thanks.

Yeah it is a '93 according to the listing it won't fit.
