There is a hose, about 1/4" diameter, plastic or rubber that comes out the lower unit, up the back, outside the engine, and just up and over the transom and ends. It has, was looks to be a coupler fitting at the end, making it look like it should be attached to something. Anyway it has gotten damaged, apparently, got pinched while raising and lowering the engine, and has a pretty big hole in it, and it is in a place where it WOULD take on water.IMG_5621.jpg
What is it? Should it be attached to something? Can I just cut out the bad section and re-join it together?
Thanks for any and all help!

It's the speedometer water pressure hose, not really necessary or useful if you don't have a speedometer that's operated off of it. just cut it/plug it/forget it. Good Luck!

Wow! Thanks for the quick reply! I was all worried that it was sucking water into the lower unit.
This is in a pontoon , so who cares how fast it goes!!!
Thanks again!
