Hey guys, I'm new to these forums and I believe I am posting in the correct place, but Im sorry if I'm not. Anyways, I have two Yamaha 150 hp 4 strokes on my 2007 26' Sailfish (which I just got this year as a replacement for a Robalo I had since 05) and I wanted to know what the max RPMs I can get these motors is. I have had them run about 5500 rpm wide open with the motors up a good amount, and I have gotten 48 mph at fastest. However, when we took the boat for a test spin in January, the guy with us had the boat reaching 50 mph with 1/3 of a tank (thats what I had when I tested the speed) but I don't remember what the rpm was.

A few other possible variables:
-Trim tabs were all the way up to reduce drag
-bilge may have been relatively filled
-4 people on the boat (2 kids and 2 adults)
-props were the ones that came with the boat when it was new (yamaha stock pitch cant remember exactly what it was)
Im just not sure if its safe to fun the rpm that high, but I have heard of other people with stock pitched 150s running 6000 rpm.
