What is the simplest and easiest way of getting more power from a 2 cylinder 2 stroke suzuki 30hp year 1983.
Ive seen on the johnson/evinrude engines forum about putting on bigger carbs etc, but is this an option with the suzuki dt30 ?

Ive heard that better reeds might give a slight boost in top end, but is this correct ?
Also ive noticed in the brownspoint list that there is 4 different sizes of main jet.
155, 160,165, and 170.
what do these numbers refer to ? is it the size in thousandths of and inch or what ?
can i simply put a bigger main jet in to get a bit more power ?

I dont realy want to buy another engine, as this engine has been with me for 20 years and is very reliable.
Its not done a great deal of hours and starts realy good, it spent over 10 years unused in the garage.
But if i could squeeze a touch more power from it,then it would be great.
Just a bit more oomph from hole shot is what im realy after, i dont need a screamer, and
dont want to spend much if possible.
The top end is probably as good as im gonna get at 25 mph with 2 people on 4 metre orkney dory.
Prop is 13 inch pitch, and with 10 inch pitch prop i get 21.6mph and only very slight better acceleration.

any advice ?
