A friend has got a 2005 Suzuki 250HP 4 stroke and it over heats at idle only, either in the water, or on the flushers, it will run all day at any RPM above about 1,500RPM, but bring it back to idle for a few minutes, and it over heats, a dealer has replaced the water pump and thermostat so far, and it still does it, any ideas?

Have you received any answers to your question? I am having the same issue. The thermostat was replaced and it did not fix the problem.

Check the water pressure valve. Complete waterpump replacement or just an impeller?

The entire water pump is new in Sep/2010. Thank you for the tip on water pressure valve; will try that after mechanic replaces two of the three temperature sensors - temperature grade difference between sensors is the suspect.
