I installed a new prop recently and instead of tightening down prop nut with a piece of wood wedged between prop and cavitation plate I tightened it while in reverse. It seems now that when pushing shift lever into reverse it makes a clunking sound I don't seem to recall happening before this. I know its supposed to make a clunk sound when going in forward or reverse but it just seemps to be much more clunky sounding than before. Maybe I am just paranoid but I could swear it shifts different now. Also going into forward does not seem as smooth as it use to be. Am I imagining this or is something now off in the shift linkage. Is it possible I torqued the prop nut down too tight, it seemed when I tightened it in reverse the shaft did turn a little before coming to a stop. Next time out I will listen closer to see if there is any grinding going on going into reverse.Any and all advice welcome. Thanks.
