Evening,
I have a 2000 Yamaha salt water series II that will not stay running. When I try and start it, it will turn over, fire off, and run for approx. 5 to 10 seconds before dying out. It has sat for quite some time, and the high pressure fuel pump had seized. I just replaced the high pressure pump, and the low pressure pumps are getting plenty of fuel to the VST thing. My boat has (2) of these engines on it, and I was forced to replace the high pressure fuel pumps in both of them. The other engine started right up and runs fine. I have no idea why the other one will not stay running. I have swapped fuel lines. I have swapped ignition switches (at the helm) I can hear the high pressure pump running when I turn the key on, and the fuel filter on the engine is full of fuel.
Any ideas or help at all would be greatly appreciated. I am at wits end on with my limited mechanical ability.
