Yamaha 40hp manual tilt - will busted shallow water drive cause any issues?

Hi all,

I managed to break the shallow water drive on my Yamaha 40hp 2 stroke manual tilt (had a board in there to keep the motor up and it slipped and snapped the little steel hook/brace for shallow water drive).

It still locks all the way down and all the way up. Do you think I'll have any other issues while boating? I don't *think* the shallow drive is linked to anything else but I can't really tell. When I say shallow drive I mean it tilts up a bit for shallow water.

Thoughts?

I looked at mine and the only thing it might affect is when you go into reverse... put motor in reverse and see if you can lift it... if you can then you are ok.. if you can then you have a problem that the motor will pull away from the boat in reverse and then slam back as you st0p reverse,
