1999 yamaha F100 Water pump lower housing oil seal replacement

Hi guys,

I am replacing the entire water pump on my '99 F100 TLRX, including the lower housing and oil seals.

My question is: Do I need to add oil to the bearing before putting the lower housing and oil seals back on? When I removed them some oil spilled out, but I'm not sure if this oil is particular to the top end of the bearing, or if it is just lower unit oil coming through the bearing from the lower unit.

Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe after you get done with your water pump replacement, put it all back together, then drain and refill lower unit oil, just to be dead sure.
