Yamaha Won't go into drive sometimes.

I have a 2004 Yamaha 300 HPDI and recenlty I was out and could not get it to switch into forward. It went into reverse with no problem and eventually after shutting it down it worked and we continued fishing. But later that day it happened again and eventually went into gear again. Anyone had this problem before?

Sounds like you have to give the shift cable a slight tweek in the control box. You probably have developed a bit of ware so the control interlock does not always know you are in full forward. Will not get any better until you adjust it. The turn buckel end on the end of the cable should be screwed in 11 MMs worth of thread. Will bet it is screwed in more than that. regards FRED

Possible remote control problem, accidently going into warm-up at throttle up?
