Hey all,

I am trying to fix an engine. Cleaned all carbs, its getting fuel. Inside looks just fine, no corrosion on coils and all wires/connections look great.

It idles perfect, but when I bring the rpm's up and hold steady it creates a miss. I used that spark plug gap tester thing (with the light bulb it it) to check spark at idle and at speed. All four cylinders showed the little light bulb lit inconsistently and weak.

I highly doubt all four coils are bad. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
I am thinking the CDI could be bad and have also been told something about the trigger(s) under the flywheel.

Anyone know if a bad coil on one cylinder can show weak spark on other cylinders?

you need to get manufacturer specs and test your electronics

I agree you need a service manual for your motor and the proper test equipment.
Follow the procedures in the manual to test inputs and outputs of the CDI and the coils to tell is you have an ignition system problem.
If it all checks out within specs then chase the fuel problem.
