Re: Need a 2004 Yamaha rigging guide for 90TLRC

Ok, maybe I need to add a little more to this post to get a response so here goes....

I replaced a 1991 Yamaha 90 hp with a 2004. It is almost complete but there are a few questions I have. I replaced the older digital gauge with a new one and all connections are complete except the old tach had two black wires connected and the new tach has only one? Also the tilit trim gauge on the tach is not working and the temp light is blinking with key in the on position? Oh, one other thing...The alarms use to come on with the key in the on position now they don't? The tach does operate fine.

I searched the forum and found some helpful info but nothing specific for my problem.

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks,

The owners manual has some usefull info in it but it does not have the tach wiring info that I am looking for. It does confirm however that none of the indicator lights are working for me only the RPM's.

Thanks,

This would be a good question for Rodbolt, I know their are some conversion kits but not sure if this is a Commandlink issue or not.

we need pictures.
the 04 is not command link compatible.
the 91 had different wire connectors than the 04.
most likly you failed to correctly set the tach dip switchs.
the audible alarm does NOT self test on a single engine yamaha.
need pictures of the tach and the wire connectors.

Thank you your response. I will try to get pictures as soon as the rain lets up. I will also take a look at the dip switches. Is there a guide to show where they are and what position they should be in? In regards to the audible alarm, I recall when I use to turn the key to on there was a beep, now there is not one. Perhaps this was just a test to insure the audible alarm was functioning?

Thank you again, the help is greatly appreciated.

Sorry I need to add a little more info that belongs to my last post.
The pics from left to right are:
New tach wiring, New tach, Old tach wiring, Old tach, Old tach wiring harness.

I have added two more pics below:
New tach wiring @ motor, Blk wire that was connected with old tach but new tach does not have a connection? (It appears to be from key switch)

Also I found where there are three dip switches on the new tach just not sure how they should be set?

Thanks,

looks good.
cant recall the dip switch settings off the top of my head.
however I have posted it here a few times.
your switch settings will be, 2 stroke,12 pole alt, and 2 wire trim sender.
do a forum search with dip switch as key words.

Rodbolt thank you for your help!

I was able to correct the dip switches on the tach to:
On, off, off for 2 wire trim, 2 stroke, and 12 volt.

It appears all but the trim indicatgor is working correctly. It won't move beyond 1 bar. Is it possible the sender with the black arm under the motor is bad? Is there a way to test?

Thank you again!
