Changing pump impeller on Suzuki 140

My mate has asked me to help him change the pump impeller on his 2000 Suzuki 140 4st EFI. I have only changed the impeller on my 60hp EFI 4st as experience goes working with impellers. Are there any special things I should know about? How is the gear select shaft conected to the gearbox? Do I set the gear change to neutral, forward or reverse when I undo the bolts holding the G/box on? Are there only seven bolts that hold the G/box on? How many are hidden in the assembly? I know that at least one bolt is under the trim plate. What do you apply to the bolt threads when re-assembling the unit?
