found lots of good posts on changing the impeller but on the 2008 50hp 2-stroke LTR, I see no nut or any way to disconnect the shift linkage from the LU. No lock nut or anything even when moving shifter to forward or reverse. Attached pic is what I see. Any suggestions please?

first, ya gotta take the do hickys offn the whatchamacallits.
then ya gotta carefully seperate the infold bracket nut.
then ya gotta carefully seperate the exhaust gas multiplier from the fuel pump flux field capcaciter.
then it falls like a ton of bricks.

actually, there are no shift dissconnects on that engine.
the pic shows thge female splined socket that engages the male splined shaft coming up from the lower.
leave in in N, remove the lower unit attaching bolts and drop it.
no tricks or springy things on the shifter.
