Yamaha 90 2-stroke gear oil

Was intending to change my impeller in the spring, but will I have to lose and replace the brand new, unused gear lube in my outdrive or are they separate ?

for a simple water pum kit change you wont lose any gear oil. if you do you missed something in the manual.
