I just installed a new prop. Without the motor running I shifted to forward and turned the prop by hand and it turned just fine. (Although with a clicking sound) I then shifted to reverse and tried to turn the prop, the opposite way, and it would not turn. Any ideas? Could it be the shift cable that may need adjusting? Any help would be appreciated.

I think locked in reverse is normal. The slight clicking may be that the shift rod isn't 100% dialed in. Changing the prop shouldn't change the shifting.

The rod goes up and down to engage the grears. It is actually two rods with threaded ends that are attached by a special nut. That nut controls the length of the total package and is used to adjust the shifting. Make sense? When you drop the lower unit for service, you want to remember how many threads you undid so that you redo it the same.
