I recently purchased a 1999 100 HP Yamaha motor. The motor runs great from about half-throttle to full, but shudders and cuts off when you just ease it into gear making it very difficult to trailer. Any suggestions as to the order of things to check?

Try doing a shock treatment or 2 with an ethanol fuel treatment like yamaha Ring Free. Make sure your fuel filter and carbs are clean.

also check the shift cut switch, and quit easing it into gear, or post about clutch dogs and how expensive yamaha gearsets are.

Thanks for the info. By 'easing into gear' I should have said slight throttle increase after shifting like when unloading and loading from trailer.

I used Seafoam a couple of times and as stated in the original post, it runs great at WOT, but just doesn't want to take the gas slowly. I have just replaced the inline fuel filter, but have not had a chance to check it out yet. Thanks for the info.
