This motor came with a boat I recently bought. It runs and idles well. The previous owner's jb weld and bondo job recently fell off the lower unit gear box. Evidently, these units were prone to cracks. I'm having problems finding a replacement lower unit. The motor runs so well I'd rather keep it and either repair or replace the lower unit. What other brand lower units are compatible? Could it be welded? The crack is 1/8th inch by 4 inch long starting at the prop flange and going back toward the point of the torpedo.
