2009 Yamaha 90 stroke.
Can anyone tell me or better yet, send an illustration, of what to do to increase idle speen on this motor ? It's idling in Neutral around 500-600 rpm and is almost shutting off due to too low of a setting.

what is a 2009 Yamaha 90 stroke?
Model #s are a good way to let us know what motor you are talking about

Is this a carb motor or an injected?
Again I say it is a good idea to post model #s as the top thread says

I would have to say that your carbs pilot jets/ passages are plugging and need to be pulled and cleaned, not just screw the adjustment screw in to speed it up some. Or your Idle timing is off.

After you warm up your motor you could just turn that little phillips head idle adjustment screw on the side of the throttle linkeage to raise the idle RPM's, and that might do the trick, if not, then like said before, may need carbs cleaned.

Do you have an illustration on where that screw is, and which way do you turn it to increase idle speed ?

Look at the carb control linkeage side of motor(starboard side), operate linkeage open and close with your hand and if you look there, the idle control screw is obvious, it's the one that stops the movement of the likeage in the closed position. Maybe buy a Yamaha Manual. Good Luck!

ROBERT ,
The screw your talking about is a small vertical screw mounted on the middle carb that stops the carb linkage ??

That's the only adjustment I need for raising idle RPM's ??

THANKS for your help

Yep, that's it!..turn it clockwise to increase idle speed. Assuming everything else is O.K. with the motor, like carbs, timing, etc., then that little phillips head screw will adjust your idle. Motor should be warmed up and running. Was your motor idling correctly before and it just started idling slow? Your carbs may be ready for a cleaning. Good Luck!
