Months ago HP fuel pump stopped running. First time, never happened before. ECU fine. Mjuch trouble shooting before taking terminals (red and blue wire) off pump, cleaned them. There was a white grease inside each rubber cover cap that had coated the terminals. Thought it was causing the terminal not to make good contact w/ the terminals of the pump. Reconnected and motor ran fine. Ran for about an hour and motor died. HP fuel pump not running. Took terminals off pump out in the water, re-installed and motor ran fine.
Thinking its losing connection, I put a small SS flat washer under each wire terminal lug. Ran this time for about 50 minute and the fuel pump quit again.
Pulled terminals from pump loose out in the water and re-installed, pump would not run. After waiting about 15 minutes pump starting running.
Is it a bad up? Does pump have internal pressure switch to shut it off so as not to overpressur fuel rail? Could it be the pressur switch? Or is it just the terminal causing a bad 12VDC connection? Really lost for thing to do next. Don't want to spend all the money for a new HP pump and thats not the problem.
