Suzuki 40 HP outboard with s/n: 040-03-401535

How can I find out which year this engine is? I also need to get the manual for it. It start, did pump water and now it does not. Thanks

Looking at Brownspoint parts page it appears to be a 1984.

I have a couple more questions.

1. Pilot air screw. How many turn should I be adjusting to make the motor run smooth.

2. Since my motor is a 1984. Which manual do i purchase from brownspoint. the DT40 (which list for up to 1983) or the DT40C which covers from 1984-1998.

The ideal setting is 1 & 1/2 full turns outwards from soft stop .... the manual dated from 84 - 98
