Hello experts,
I have a 2006 Yamaha 50hp EFI 4-stroke w/ 24 hrs that I tried to start for the first time this season (after sitting garaged for 6 months). It idled and died a few times, but now I can't even get that. Here's what I've been able to diagnose:
- getting spark (runs on starter fluid)
- low pressure fuel pump is working; primed up to HP fuel pump
- electric fuel pump active w/ key turn, and HP fuel hose to the fuel rail feels tight (getting pressure)
- plugs are dry
Therefore, I think I have a fuel delivery issue cause by a clogged fuel rail and/or fuel injectors. When I winterized it (although I live in AL) I used fuel stabilizer in the tank and fogged the cylinders, but didn't completely drain the system. So here are some questions:
- what are the procedures for removing and cleaning the rail and injectors?
- there is a fancy looking coupling from the fuel hose to the rail. do i need a special tool for this?
- am i missing anything else that could be causing this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Patrick
