HELP REQUESTED 2005 Suzuki DF50 Oil Leak

Neighbor ploughed into a mud flat doing 20 plus Knots, motor stalled and large puff of oily smoke was emitted. Since the incident oil is appearing in the motor cowl pan in sufficient quantity that when the motor is raised oil is being deposited onto the aft transom deck.

Tomorrow i will degrease the motor and run it in an attempt to isolate where the oil is leaking from. Enquiring whether anyone has suffered a like fate and can assist in determining where the diagnostic process should begin.

No oil is leaking from the lower leg, sump oil is not water contaminated, motor appears to function OK.

Appreciate if anyone can assist an old fella Aussie, thanks in advance.

Dislodged breather hose, loose, cracked or missing oil cap, loose oil filter. Cam cover gasket or sump gasket failure. Look at the engine. Oil is a liquid and runs down hill. The source of the leak is where the block begins to get oily.

trim motor up and look to see if oil is coming out by upper motor mounts if so might have crack housing

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated.

Some feedback, oil leakage traced to coming from bottom of motor. With motor tilted and after 10 minute run oil was oozing out of "Engine holder gasket", only small trace because motor not run under load, presumption is that the lower crankshaft seal is compromised.

For the old mates sake hope he has not bent the crank shaft.

Will know more after motor dismantled.
