1986 Yamaha 150 HP Yamaha

I have just purchased a boat with a 150 HP Yamaha (1986) engine that has not been run for 5 years. It was running fine when stored.

What are some of the first steps I should take to get this motor running, again.

I'd start by getting all the fuel out of the tank, lines, pumps, carbs, everywhere. Drain the carbs, change oil in foot, replace water pump impeller, new plugs, fresh fuel with a heavy dose of Stabil Marine. Should be ready to go! Good Luck!

I would add new fuel pumps and thermostats plus gaskets to that list.
if it's a oil injected motor, i would clean all that too.
