Decoding Yamaha serial #?

How can I find out what year my motor is?
I just got a Yam 9.9 High Thrust, electric start and have no idea how old it is. It is white not the grey color you normally see.

Top row: FT9.9EXH
Bottom row: 6G8 UL 781595
Four Stroke, High Thrust, 9.9 HP, Electric Start, 25" Ultra Long, Tiller Handle.
That all looks right compared to the motor. The only part I have trouble with is the year. 1988?

EXH = 1987.
Make sure you are using the 84 to 90 code chart. The 90 to 05 looks like it will work, but it uses too many letters for your motor.

my serial number does not work with the charts you gave it is 66ml-xxxxxxx

can you help wiht it I was told it is a 2006 but it is stamped 2005
