I suspect my upper bearing is bad. I have the flywheel,stator and advance off and am having some problem removing the bearing housing. All the retaining bolts came off easily. Can some one confirm that it is removable without halving the crankcase and how best to do it.. I am in the process of making a simple puller to rest against the top of the crankshaft while pulling up on the 3 threaded holes in the center of the bearing housing.
I've checked the compression on all cylinders and also checked for piston to crankshaft play mentioned in other threads. The whiring noise seems to be coming from the top of the powerhead.
