I have a Suzuki DT115 outboard on my boat and I am going to have to replace a prop shaft and maybe some other compnents in the lower unit. I will not know until I get it apart. When I bought the boat, I was told that the engine in total is form two different model years. The power head is either an '85 or '87 and the midsection and lower unit are the opposite. So if I have an '85 powerhead, it is an '87 lower, or visa-versa.
The parts books list different part numbers the the prop shaft. In the '81 to '85 book, there are three different numbers based on model. In the '86 to '01 book, I know it would be 57610-94506 because it is an '80 model and the other option there is '91 or newer.
So, how can I determine which year each component came from and what changes were made to this engine over the pre'85 to post'86 model years...
