Yamaha 150 steering question

I have a 2006 hurricane deck boat with a yamaha 150 outboard. I bought the boat about 1 month ago and the steering feels much different than my previous boat. I'm not sure if there is a problem with it or not. While driving the boat (any speed) and turning right, the wheel has to turn about 3/4 of a revolution before the outboard moves. While turning left, the outboard moves immediately, but it is not smooth. It has a "ratchet" or jerking motion (minor, not severe). Does the steering need to be adjusted, or should I bleed the system?

Yep... Bleed/fill the hydraulics on that thing!

The stuttering tells me "air" and the 3/4 turn with no response tells me air and/or low fluid...

Had the same issue. The seals on the engine side had a very slight leak. New seals, fresh oil and proper bleeding restored the steering response.
