Hello all,

I'm about to purchase a Yami 40/28 jet drive on a 16 ft Basstracker. I want to run river shallows and I'm aware of the the drawbacks associated with a jet compared to a prop. Did Yamaha manufacture a 2-stroke 40 HP jet drive in 2000? Thus far, I've only found 4-stroke Yami jets in my research and the guy I'm buying the motor off of contends it's a 2-stroke...and that you also do not have to mix the oil and gas. Did Yamaha produce this motor? Thanks in advance, Bob

yes there was a j series oil injected 2 stroke built then. however yamaha did not build the jets, they were and still are built by american jet in california.
just remember, NO idleing in less than 2 feet of water.
