Can a bad fule pump make the same noise as a loose valve on a Yamaha 4 stroke?

Hi

I have a 2004 F75 4 stroke that is making a tapping sound above 3500 rpm at about the same place the fuel pump is located on the valve cover it sounds just like a loose valve tapping the engine was running quite and all of the sudden it has this noise. Any Help would be appreciated

The fuel pump can make a tapping noise if it is starving for fuel. You might want to check the filter or fuel line for restrictions or an air leak.
