I am preparing to change the oil for the first time. Where is the oil filter and what does it look like. I previously had a 25HP Honda and the oil filter was same as a car (only smaller) and very visible. I haven't found the one on my Suzuki yet.
Also, where is the best place to get an oil filter and does Fram or other manufacturers make these?

Lastly my Suzuki dealer is far away, can I get a Johnson filter instead. I am told that all 4 stroke Johnsons are actually Suzukis.

Thanks for helping out.

Open the lower plastic motor cover, on the port side there is a triangle shaped metal flange. Open it you will see the filter. You need to change the 2 ORings too. Buy the filter and O-Rings online.

It is my understanding that the suzuki 9.9 is a johnson so just cross reference the part numbers and see if the johnson oil filter will work.
