I have a new, 37 hours, Yamaha 225 four stroke, in which the fuel pump burned up. The deal said it the engine had to be run out of the water. I am sure this never happened. With this "burned up" fuel pump I was still able to run the boat with water running through it. The boat ran fine at higher RPMs but the alarm would go off once, after at least 20 minutes, I would reduce speed to almost idle.
Has there been similar problems with this engine? Does t make sense wate would still be running through it with a failed pump?
Thanks, Ed
