Been reading the various threads, and I will check my fuel pump/bubble. I just recently installed a new lower unit and was in the process of breaking it in as per the manufacturer.

While I was doing that I was instructed not to run 100 percent, so I didn't. But after running the motor for a while, fishing shortly, the engine would not run at full rpms or high rpms resulting in zero hole shot. The rpms would increase in neutral but not forward. I could only get about 2000 rpms and 7mph.

I experienced this with a Johnson before, and so I looked to grease the gear linkage (or timing link)...probably calling it incorrectly, but it controlled the throttle timing.

So, any suggestions on where I should start. The engine sounds fine, runs great, and starts fine. It just did not have the same power in forward after being run for a time.

Any suggestions? Is this fuel issue? If so, then why would it run high in neutral? Please advise, or atleast where I should begin.
