Panther 55 trim/tilt

I posted this in Merc, boating and Yamaha since the motor is Yamaha and the controller is merc. I apologize in advance if I have broken any forum rules.

I have a Yamaha 40 hp 4 stroke with a Panther 55 tilt/trim unit. I am moving it to a small pontoon boat. The brand new, never been the water pontoon has a Mercruiser Binnacle control with a two way button on it for tilt/trim. The Panther control is a two button three wire switch. Is there any reason I could not use Merc switch to control the Panther? I assume I would have to splice/wire in the Panther plug to go to the wires from the Mercruiser control. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

no worries.
however the panther unit wasnt OEM for either merc or yamaha.
but it still uses a simple DC circuit to activate the relays/solinoids for trim control.
without a diagram of the panther unit I cant tell you how to wire it but they are simple.
