Hi,
New to your board and outboard motors. I have a 1986 8hp 2 stroke on my sailboat.

My question is How do I set the throttle so I don't have to keep one hand on it and one hand on the tiller? In other words when I let loose of the throttle it goes back to idle.

I have a 8 mile motor at least one way before we can sail and the arm sure get tired holding the throttle all the time.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and for the answer.

On the inside of the handle, about 2/3 of the way along, you should find a tension bolt with a large plastic head. Turn this clockwise to lock the throttle.
