Not correct.

I had a 2001 DF70, which was one of the most reliable and the most user friendly outboard I ever had. If I had the need I would not hesitate to get another DF70.

The DF has a pretty standard EFI electrical system. The electrical should hold up fine as long as you keep the power head above the water line at all times;)

hello , as i have done a basic mechanic course in 1983 i intend to look after my df70 myself.

can anyone tell me what is involved in the servicing of a 2004 df70?

this would be much appreciated.

thx

Re: buying a suzuki df 70 (2004)

I have owned a 2003 DF70 for 6 years and change oil twice a year, oil filter once a year, plus spark plugs once every 2 years. The motor is typically used all 12 months of the year, as the Mississippi River never freezes over at Red Wing, MN. I just use 10w - 40 automotive oil I get on sale and the spark plugs are about $2 each. Mine has not broken down or needed additional service.

I would guess the information you received about electrical problems might have come from a sales person trying to sell a different brand, or maybe it was a one-time problem. I have followed several fishing & boating forums since 2003 and have not heard about any problems with the motor?s electrical system.

I still smile every time that engine instantly starts up and quietly purrs like a happy kitten all day long.

Doing your own work can be very rewarding. I suggest you buy a Suzuki Service Manual for your DF70. It will be money well spent. Check www.brownspoint.com
Have fun.
