Yamaha 150 noise

I have a Yamaha 150 and it is a great motor.

After running it at about 5,000 rpms, when I cut back to 3,000 I hear a noise.
I asked my mechanic about it and he said it was reed valve noise.

Unfortunately he is gone for a while, and I forgot to ask him if I should be concerned about this and does anything need to be done to the engine.

without hearing the noise nor knowing WHAT 150 yamaha you have I cant say much other than odds are slim to none you ever hear a read.
trust me on that.
off the top of my head I can name maybe 6 150 HP yamahas that all use a different ign,fuel delivery system.
some in the same year model run.
its also why model numbers are so important.
