1987 Suzuki 85 HP Outboard

I have the above, 1987 85 HP Suzuki. Has always run fine. Started right up after winter layup but at higher rpm runs rough - red light on oil guage (3 green when full of oil 1 red at bottom) comes on at higher rpm.

Anyone know what the issue could be. Continues to start up easily and will idle forever - just when I increase throttle is there an issue.

Make sure your oil reservoir is full .... otherwise check the oil level sensor inside the reservoir .....

Does the oil light flicker or stay on continuously? This engine is designed to shutoff if the the oil sensor thinks there's no oil. So if it is flickering it would cause it to run rough but not neccessarily shut it down. If it is staying on your engine should not run. The sensor maybe your problem.
