Replacing Suzuki Gear Case Seal Kits

The motor was leaking water. We believed it to be from the base of the Gear Shift Rod, which is the S/S rod at the "left" of the picture, (with the roll of white tape sitting on the top of it to identify it)

Problem: re can't "split" the housing. That is where the screw driver in the right front of the picture is.
We can raise-open the front and the reat of this case, but not the centre.

There are 4 threaded studs, that the pump housing fits over...
We managed to remove one rear stud, but we can't get the 2 front studs to move.
The screw driver in the middle of the picture is on top of one of them.

Question:
How do we split the case so we can put in a new Suzuki Gear Case Seal Kit?

Do we have to remove these studs to get the case apart?

What are we doing wrong?

Why won't the case 'split' apart?

Any help will be much appreciated.
Cheers
Phillip

Rather an interesting procedure. The studs can remain in place. The propshaft along with its bearing carrier must be removed. The book says remove the two bolts securing the carrier and then tap the outer ring with a soft face mallet to loosen the carrier and pull it out. Occasionally it will come out but I have made a puller and used heat from an oxyacetylin torch to free them up. Once that is out you need to remove the pinion gear from the drive shaft then the top plate will lift off with the shaft and bearing housing.
Good idea to get the Seloc manual because there are more bits you need to know.
